Frequently asked questions

How does the beeping work?

Pitch tells you which way to adjust: a high beep means you’re going too fast, a low beep means too slow. How often it beeps tells you how much: the further off pace you drift, the quicker and more urgent the beeping. When you’re on target, it stays quiet.

What do I need to use Beep Pacer?

An iPhone running iOS 18 or later and a pair of headphones. AirPods are recommended, but any Bluetooth or wired headphones work. Pace is driven by GPS, so you’ll get the best results running outdoors with a clear view of the sky.

Does it interrupt my music?

No. Beep Pacer mixes its beeps over whatever you’re already playing, straight through your headphones. It never pauses, ducks, or stops your music.

Is my location private?

Yes. Your pace is computed entirely on your iPhone, and your location never leaves the device. See our Privacy Policy for the details.

How do I get a refund?

Purchases and refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. You can request a refund through Apple’s Report a Problem page.

Troubleshooting

I can’t hear any beeps

First, remember that silence is normal when you’re on target. If you expect beeps and hear none: check that your headphones are connected and the media volume is turned up (not just the ringer volume), and confirm a run is actually started.

My pace looks wrong or jumps around

Pace comes from GPS, which needs a clear view of the sky. Give it a minute outdoors to settle after you start, and avoid starting indoors, under heavy tree cover, or between tall buildings.

Beeps stop when I lock the screen

Beep Pacer is built to keep coaching with the screen off and the phone tucked away. If beeping stops when you lock the screen, open Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services, make sure Location Services is on and that Beep Pacer is allowed to use your location with Precise Location enabled. Turning off Low Power Mode can also help.

My headphones won’t connect

This is handled by iOS, not the app. Open Settings › Bluetooth, make sure your headphones are paired and connected, then start your run again. For AirPods, putting them back in the case and reopening it near your phone usually re-pairs them.
